I have used this salad dressing for more than four decades. Every time I serve this French-Russian dressing, I am asked about the brand. When I admit it’s homemade, almost always a request for the recipe follows. This French-Russian recipe is so much better than any bottled French dressing I have ever tasted. There are no preservatives or chemicals in this dressing. It’s wonderful!
Ingredients
1/4 cup vinegar (rice vinegar or cider vinegar)
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup chili sauce (I use Heinz Chili Sauce)
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons grated sweet onion (Walla Walla, Mayan, Vidalia, etc.)
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil (I use olive oil; salad oil will work too)
Directions
Set the oil aside. Then combine all other ingredients in a blender or food processor. Let the mixture stand for at least ten minutes. Turn the blender on low while very slowly dribbling the oil into the mixture. By pouring the oil into the mixture in a very slow process, the oil does not separate from the mixture. Use immediately or refrigerate
