MY NEW BOOK IS OUT!   YEAH!!!

During the last two years I wrote a new version of Color Play. It’s called Color Play, Second Edition. Knowing it would be my last book with C & T Publishing, I wanted it to be special.  I wanted it filled with not only the basics, but new color information that will entice, challenge, and inform. The concepts are illustrated by a wealth of amazing quilts and fabric art, computerized illustrations, and a variety of photos.

 Color Play Second Edition

Just to let you know…….Chapter 1 offers historical facts and essential need-to-know color basics; Chapter 2 is dedicated to the major color plans; Chapter 3 is dedicated to value and value strategies; Chapter 4 chats about color personalities, physical effects, and emotions evolving from different colors; Chapter 5 is a color reference of the 24 major colors (use this chapter as a reference rather than a reading text).

Chapter 6 is dessert! It gives you the how-to steps to creating depth, luminosity, luster, shadows, highlights, reflections, and transparency. I think this is an essential chapter for any quilter (or artist in any medium) who wants to work with any of these illusions.

I love this book. I hope you will tool.  You can purchase it from your local fabric shop or book store. If that’s not possible, you can purchase it online from C & T Publishing or your favorite online site.

BOOKS—Food for the Mind

Like many people from my generation, I began reading long before I entered school. This was fortuitous, as when I could no longer go to school in 2nd and 3rd grades because of an illness, I spent most of my time reading. My wise at-home traveling teacher assigned me generous amounts of writing assignments to make the time pass quickly. By the time I was in 5th grade, I had decided to be a novelist when I grew up. That has not happened, as you probably know.

Instead I had the good fortune to have C & T Publishing want to publish nine non-fiction books that I have written. Being an avid landscape textile artist, I first wrote a book about landscape quilts. Creating a successful landscape has much to do with color and natural effects. Since there were not enough pages to cover it all, The Magical Effects of Color became my second book. In this book, I wanted to include some design basics, but there were not enough pages to cover as much as I had wanted. Hence, The Visual Dance was begun. With two exceptions, the inspiration for each book began during the writing of the previous book.

Basic information about each book is listed below, as are book reviews and my comments about the books in this store.
